Building on the success of QRL Hackathon 2022 in Amsterdam, we’re excited to announce our upcoming QRL Games - Winter Hackathon 2022 (virtual).
The main theme for Winter Hackathon 2022 is all about games. Whether it’s taking inspiration from a nostalgic game you played growing up or gamifying any aspect of the project that your quantum-resistant heart desires, the options here are endless.
Have a question about taking part? If you have any questions, we’re happy to answer them through support@theqrl.org or our Discord channels.

- [Getting started](/events/qrl-games-winter-hackathon-2022/start/index.md) Welcome to the QRL Games - Winter Hackaton 2022! This event is open to everyone from developers, artists, writers, or anyone else alike to come together for December. Overview There are two main components that you can participate in as your holiday time commitments allow (if you were here for last years Winter Hackathon, you’ll notice some overlap!) Community lead projects: If you have more time during the holidays, you can start or participate in developing a project for QRL. This can be anything so long as it’s QRL and game related, from building a QRL game to gamifying some aspect of the project. Hackathon hearty rewards: If you have a few minutes to an hour, you can contribute your time to anything QRL related that you see fit from tweets, to meme’s and GitHub commits. There will be leaderboards! Component 1. Community lead projects The first week of the hackathon (from Friday, December 14th to January 4th) will have a focus on community members either establishing a project or joining a project

- [Project Ideas](/events/ideas.md) Developers and the general public will be able to create and use exciting web3 functionality within the QRL protocol through EVM compatible smart-contracts. Ideas includes everything from porting web3 applications to NFTs and establishing governance on the QRL network.

- [Rewards](/events/qrl-games-winter-hackathon-2022/rewards/index.md) A reward fund of up to 25,000 QRL is available, with the final total prize pool dependent on the quantity, quality, and effort of the projects submitted. Some of this pool will go towards QRL Hearty’s, which you can read more about on our Getting Started page. For more information on the latter, be sure to check out our judging section of our Rules & Guidelines page.

- [Rules & Guidelines](/events/qrl-games-winter-hackathon-2022/rules/index.md) Audience & Code-of-Conduct This hackathon is open to everyone of most ages and skill levels. Whether you’re a designer, developer, writer, or want to be one, your presence is welcome! This is as much a place to build on the QRL ecosystem as much as it is to build the QRL community. Covering this is our Code-of-Conduct, which broadly boils down to treating everyone with respect. Rules Attendees from all backgrounds, genders, and geographies are welcome. There is no age restriction to attend the hackathon. In case you are under 18, your parents/legal guardian should contact the hackathon to request a waiver authorizing you to attend the hackathon. There can be up to five to a team, which is spearheaded by a single individual. It’s possible to be part of multiple teams, but not to lead multiple teams. It’s possible to work on something on your own, (ie. a team of one) QRL Team members are eligible to participate in the hackathon independently, but not for any prizes. Project should have a major theme or component be QRL, and is recommended to use the QRL ecosystem. Adding new features to existing projects is allowed, such as adding QRL to another ecosystem. Teams can work on an idea that they have worked on before. Any intellectual property developed during and within the scope of the hackathon must be open source and licensed under one of the licenses referenced in https://opensource.org/licenses. Projects that violate the Code-of-Conduct are not allowed. Teams can be disqualified from the competition at the organizers’ discretion. Reasons might include but are not limited to breaking the competition rules, breaking the Code-of-Conduct, or other unsporting behaviour.
