This change impacts all current users of the QRL Wallet from The QRL Foundation on both iOS and Android devices, including anyone currently managing QRL assets via the mobile application.
The QRL Mobile Wallet from Volt Development on iOS and Android is not being delisted.
What Do Users Need To Do? Your assets remain safe and accessible, but there are a few important steps you need to follow.
Why we’re doing this By delisting the mobile wallet, we’re embracing a key principle of decentralization: focusing on core development activities that add unique value, while empowering third-party innovators to excel in areas like mobile wallets. This enables us to concentrate on deeper, more impactful projects that drive progress and growth.
Backup Procedure To secure your wallet and assets, please follow this backup procedure carefully:
Open the mobile app and select “Back Up Your Wallet”. Choose “View”, confirm the risk notification, and enter your PIN to access your private keys Carefully write down your recovery data (ex: Mnemonic, hex seed) on secure storage media and store it safely and securely. Re-read this line a few times as needed- it’s important*** The wallet will show the Mnemonic phrase and the hex seed. Either one will recover the address however it’s always good practice to have a backup on the backup.
Pro tip: Always test your recovery data prior to depositing any funds into an address. This step ensures that access to funds is available just in case something happens to the device.
Detailed documentation for the backup procedure as noted above can be found here: Mobile Wallet Backup Instructions.
Alternative Wallet Solutions We understand the importance of reliable wallet access. While we cannot directly endorse third-party wallets, we encourage you to explore trusted alternatives by visiting our official download page here at /downloads.
Important Notes For both iOS and Android users, the wallet application will not be forcibly removed from your devices after delisting. Looking Ahead This adjustment helps streamline the QRL ecosystem while ensuring users continue to have secure, reliable options for managing their digital assets. As noted above, please be sure to take the proper steps needed as it applies to your use case. Thank you for your continued support and understanding!
