Introduction We’re excited to announce our upcoming QRL Games - Winter Hackathon 2022. This builds off of the success of our QRL Hackathon 2022 in Amsterdam where we revealed our public devnet with Proof-of-Stake (PoS) and EVM-compatible smart contract functionality. The main theme for this hackathon is, as the name implies, all about games. Whether it’s taking inspiration from a nostalgic game you played growing up or gamifying any aspect of the project that your quantum-resistant heart desires, the options here are endless.

Highlights Strategic update: The Sleeper Must Awaken Today, crypto is so much more than just a peer-to-peer value transfer, with DeFi, NFTs, DAO’s, DEX’s and more coming into the space over the last few years. The market capitalization has exploded and blockchain technology is on the verge of entering the mainstream. QRL, being well into its 7th year of existence, is changing with that, introducing smart-contracts for programmable assets, and Proof-of-Stake as a more efficient and robust consensus mechanism.

State of QRL First off, the hackathon in Amsterdam was a fantastic affair. It was brilliant to meet up with so many members of the passionate QRL community in person. It was certainly successful and I very much look forward to a bigger and better successor event next year - the only questions are when and where? Development continues apace with multiple new developers joining the project in recent months. The QRL network is about to become a very exciting place to be with the advent of POS and smart contract capabilities at the next major release.

A number of interesting ideas were presented at the first real-world QRL Hackathon in 2022, and the community was fantastic. The winning entry, QRLPay, won with being a simple, quick-to-deploy, lightweight QRL payment processor and woocommerce website that connects to your own QRL node

With the final day of the hackathon upon us, we’re happy to reveal the projects that’s being worked on and for the team and community to take a vote on some of your favourites for Best Ecosystem Improvement.
